I've already threatened one player with expulsion over this and to have to do it again to someone else is irritating. The matter is being dealt with.

Keep in mind these boards are brutally coded. It takes seconds to delete a login and every post associated with it and new registrations are strictly controlled by staff. Since staff rarely handle board moderation that means they're handled mostly by ME and I remember who you are.

I wish for some clarification.  The wording here seems to cover a lot of ground, but then be mitigated by the line "when the words leveled pertain to potential meta-relationships."  This seems to me that personal attacks on characters are fine, as long as they don't closely resemble attacks that might be made against the real person behind the character.  Is that correct, or should we take this to mean that "Any allegations, defamatory speech using racially, ethnically, sexually, or violently charged wording" will receive repercussions from the STs?

Obviously, there is some history here which I am unaware of, being a new player.  I just wish to know what is out of line and what isn't.  I tend to get pretty into my characters and would hate to step over a line while trying to portray them.

Personally, I feel no further clarification is needed.

This is a common sense issue. We play a very PvP oriented game, and we are all adults. Be reasonably respectful, and when the normal course of roleplay makes respectful behavior impossible, choose your words carefully so as not to cross the line.

Keep the fact that this is just a game in mind at all times, and everything should be fine.

To clarify as well as I can.

- That line, while terribly base is perfectly fine. This is an adult game with very adult themes which is why we require a parental sign off for underage players.

"That fucker is dead to me. If I see him or his cunt wife in an alley I will literally murder them both."

- That line, is redline. Vampires do not have family. They do not have family. THEY DO NOT... HAVE... FAMILY. The two posts in question in recent months have both referred to mortal sounding, if not mortal in fact relationships of the target and have aimed to personally defame them. Very few kindred employ or maintain any facade of marital relationships and thus a statement like this blows right over the line of propriety because it can easily be interpreted as a personal, out of character attack or intent to do harm. Bottom line is this. I refuse to deal with campus police unless I am backed into a corner for this or any game. They are games. I'm not dealing with legal entanglements. The rumors board reveals IP addresses to staff and tracking the poster is a trivial matter. If you make a post like this and it is taken poorly and someone wants to bring in the police on it I will throw your carcas to the wolves and wash my hands of it. You will get absolutely no defence or protection from staff on this. We will not try to play down what was said or excuse it in any way. Keep these things in mind when you post. Tempers run high over in game events and people use the rumors board as a sounding board for that rage but you are not as anonymous on the internet as you might think. Before maiking a post... ANY post actually... read it over first. If it's a rumor do yourself a favor and read it twice. If there's even a CHANCE it could be taken poorly at the very least re-word it.

Yeah, as the prince does have a wife and does at least pretend to care for her, such threats are not only appropriate, they are in character.

In general people need to strive to use in character comments that will not be taken as out of character.
